Next level Pilates at Turning Tide
When you think of Pilates, you probably used to picture people bending and stretching on a mat, or these days standing on a pilates reformer in a room full of reformers. While that is definitely a form of fitness on Pilates equipment, at Turning Tide we are next level.
We are the only studio in the area that uses high quality,Californian Pilates Reformers and complete Pilates Studio apparatus during our sessions.
Using Pilates Reformers, and also the Wunda Chair and the Tower, the Cadillac, Arm Chair plus Raised Mat, Pilates arcs and Barrels, the Ladder barrel and magic circles, foot correctors etc, (all the original genius equipment designed by Joe Pilates) means you can build muscle strength and control faster, even with injuries or conditions that need precise guidance, all while receiving the benefits of breathing well, improved mental focus and balance and exercise induced endorphins.
At Turning Tide Pilates we offer small group classes, one-to-one and two-to-one sessions, on the full studio equipment, occasional workshops, plus online one to ones.
All new clients need to take an initial Introduction and Assessment class so we can design your programme to reflect your individual goals and needs. We also make a plan and give you feedback on your current status and likely timeline for progress.
What is Pilates?
The Pilates method is recognised worldwide as a life changing exercise and fitness method. If you regularly attend classes, you will see lots of positive changes in yourself - both physically and mentally.
Here at the beautiful Turning Tide Studio, we use the genius principles and exercises taught by Joe and Clara Pilates. Sue is a third generation teacher whose teachers were taught by Jay Grimes and Ron Fletcher who both trained with Joe Pilates himself. Sue has also attended trainings with first generation teachers Lolita san Miguel, Ron Fletcher and Mary Bowen who all studied with Joe and Clara Pilates in their New York studio. Both Sue and Andrea have studied with many Internationally reknowned teachers in person and online and continue to grow and learn as teachers and students of the Pilates Method.
We teach you specific, individualised re-balancing, strengthening and re-training exercises and Pilates Mat sequences, using specialist Pilates Studio apparatus like the Pilates Reformer, Wunda Chair and Cadillac, to condition or re-condition your entire body. We also teach healthy breathing practices used in the Pilates method to help integrate your core and mind and body powerfully in movement and daily life..

What are Pilates Reformer and Studio Equipment Classes?
Pilates Reformer and studio equipment or apparatus classes use the genius exercise apparatus designed by Joe Pilates himself, incorporating Pilates' exercise techniques and unique Pilates approach.
Basically, it means that we use state of the art Pilates apparatus, built to the highest safety and design standards, not cheap mass produced copies of Reformers poorly manufactured by firms who have sprung up overnight with no knowledge of the Pilates approach and philosophy. Classes at Turning Tide Pilates are taught to you by highly qualified teachers with years of experience and continuing professional development, to ensure you are achieving your fitness, strength, flexibility and postural goals. Pilates Reformer and Studio apparatus are fun and challenging to work with and supportive to injured or deconditioned bodies.
Reformer/ studio Pilates can help you build muscle tone and strength in your core, and accurately addresses your personal injuries, conditions, postural traits, weaknesses and imbalances.
Who is Pilates For?
The great thing about Pilates is that it can be for anyone at any stage of life. So, it doesn’t matter if you are a beginner or an advanced student. It also doesn’t matter what your fitness level is or your body type.
We work individually with each of our students to ensure we are providing a challenging, strength, fitness, health and wellbeing programme that is suited to your individual fitness and life goals.
Pilates is a very powerful and yet low joint impact activity that challenges your body to be stronger through a combination of individually modified exercises and stretches within each sequence to challenge every body uniquely.
Classes are offered in person at our Titirangi studio or online via a live link with one of our teachers or pre-recorded sessions available on You Tube.
So, if you are ready to strengthen, rebalance, retrain, renew your body and mind, be fitter, stronger and happier with your physical state, then come and work with us.
